Civana Wellness Resort and Spa Review

Civana Wellness Resort & Spa: A desert Haven of Tranquility and Rejuvenation

Date of Visit: July 2023

Intrigued by Deepak Chopra’s Wellness Retreats (minus the $6500 price tag), I decided to take myself on a solo trip to Civana to rest and reset. With 70+ complimentary fitness, personal growth and spiritual classes each week that draw on varied disciplines and techniques it’s easy to personalize your own wellness retreat.

Accomodations: 4/5

I was upgraded to a first floor king room with a semi-private walk out balcony with seating for two facing the pool. The rooms are very modern and simplistic in design and had everything I needed for a four night stay. The cozy spa robes were a nice touch.

ServiCe:3.5/5

Overall the service was decent. Many of the wellness guides were lovely and inviting but there was an overall general sense of indifference from most of the hotel and cafe staff I met. With the exception of one of the staff members checking guests into the classes, he was always friendly and remembered my name. I did appreciate the General Manager’s kind response and apology for a few mishaps that happened during my stay.

DINING: 4/5

I ended up opting for fresh juice and wraps at the Seed Cafe. I was so impressed with the nutrient rich options on the menu that I was inspired to create my own smoothie bar at home.

SPA AND WELLNESS: 4/5

I dove in and enjoyed a variety of the complimentary personal growth and discovery, fitness, yoga and movement classes. I was very impressed with all of the instructors and wellness guides. Face yoga was a super fun experience. If you get the chance take Chakra Yoga with Patty, she’s phenomenal! There also an impressive offering of outdoor adventure excursions I didn’t get the chance to try. One important thing to note is the strict cancellation policy of 5pm the night prior to avoid a $15 fee.

The spa menu offers a wide range of therapeutic massages, rejuvenating facials, and body treatments using natural and organic products. The best part of the spa is the Aqua Therapy Circuit room with hot and cold pools, cool waterfall shower and peaceful sanarium.

The spa pool and amenities were lovely and much nicer than the main pool. However, they are only accessible on days you have spa services booked. So I did my best to clear my schedules of the wellness classes to take advantage of all day spa access.

ACTIVITES AND AMENITIES: 5/5

The resort employs eco-conscious practices and initiatives to minimize its environmental impact, starting with the complimentary CIVANA water bottles and multiple FloWater alkaline water hydration stations throughout the property. Nestled in the Sonoran Desert, the resort aptly highlights the stunning beauty of the surrounding natural landscape. One of my favorites parts of the day were sunset walks around the property listening and observing the desert begin to come alive at night.

OVERALL EXPERIENCE: 4/5

Civana is a lovely choice for a solo wellness trip, friend reunion or couples retreat. The value is exceptional, given the high quality complimentary wellness classes and incredible spa amenities - I highly recommend it for a personalized wellness spa retreat experience.
