Island Yoga Retreat.

Over the past couple of years, I've recognized the critical importance of what I call "self-care." When I'm not tending to my own physical and emotional needs, I can end up far from the mother, wife, and friend I want to be.
As a couple, we have learned to build in time for self-care. Mostly it's my wellness routine - week to week, month to month. But when we have major changes and stressors, we prioritize extra time for it. This past summer we had a moved the family back from Europe and I was still grieving my mother's passing. As part of the process, we reserved a spot for me on the Island Yoga retreat.
The experience was beyond my wildest expectations! I let my emotional guard down and was able to feel EVERYTHING again, from deep grief and sadness to joy, freedom (hello, first time ever leaving my babes for 5 nights) and happiness. We laughed until we cried. I felt like a kid again and lighter than I had in years. And there is no question that I returned home with a strengthened mind, body, and soul. All of which would not have been possible without the incredible village of people supporting me: my family back at home, Rachel Brathen and the Island Yoga team all of my beautiful soul sisters at the retreat! From the depths of my heart, thank you!
