Cultivating Peace and Happiness.

"Happiness is not something ready made. It comes from your own actions."

- Dalai Lama

So the short version is.... this new site and space is about me taking action!

Here's the less exciting, longer version...

Growing up as an only child, fear, abandonment and loneliness were my siblings. I certainly have happy childhood memories, but mostly remember just wanting my mother to be happy. Last year, around the time of her passing, I realized that I was living the "American dream" and already had everything I ever longed for as a child: supportive family and friends, financial stability, three healthy children and the most incredibly loving husband. In spite of this, I was still restless and the fear of scarcity dominated my mindset.

Those lonely and sad childhood feelings are part of who I am - they are my frame of reference for my first few decades.  It's a regular struggle for me to step away from that familiar, but unhappy place, and into the "groundless" state of joy! Learning to befriend and trust laughter, joy, and deep peace and contentment is my new work.

You find peace not by rearranging the circumstances of your life, but by realizing who you are at the deepest level.
— Eckhart Tolle

I spend the better part of my days at home educating our three children with a whole lot of huge thoughts and big dreams coming and going throughout. This site is everything I am dying to share with my closest friends in deep soul-filling conversations - how I am learning to embrace the human experience and cultivate peace and happiness moment to moment.
