After pulling into the parking garage on my way into yoga this morning, I quickly scan Instagram before heading to class. I am instantly paralyzed with excitement - I see a current listing for my dream camera through a local vendor! After a few short emails (and a quick call home) I find myself holding THE CAMERA I have been dreaming about for over two years!
Film has appeared increasingly alluring (and intimidating) to me over the last several months. Just a few weeks ago I decided to transition and its happening NOW! I can't quite measure how thrilled and full of JOY I am at this moment. Last week, I reached out to one my favorite photographers, again on Instagram (can I get an amen for IG and its amazingly supportive community) asking for advice on how to transition to film. To my crazy delight she actually emailed back with a concise, thoughtful and insightful step by step plan! I knocked out step one, and bought Film Is Not Dead, by Jonathan Canlas. Two days later I have a beautiful medium format film camera and it's about to get real, real friends! Its official: my journey into film begins. No more excuses, no more procrastination, no more intimidation, no more waiting, it's time to get to work!
How about you? What's your dream camera? Please share, I'd love to hear!
